High Ridge started with a pretty simple idea: build cool things for awesome people, and do it well. Too many construction projects get messy because the planning is rushed, communication is weak, and expectations are never clear from the start. That is not how we like to work.
We believe the best projects come from solid planning, straight answers, good materials, and a team that actually cares about getting it right. That goes for custom decks, pergolas, timber structures, remodels, and residential or commercial projects that are worth building well.
Construction projects have a lot of moving parts, and things do not always go exactly to plan. What matters is having a team that can think ahead, adapt, and keep the work moving without turning it into confusion or chaos.
At High Ridge, we believe good planning leads to a smoother experience, clearer communication, and fewer surprises. Good construction work does not have to feel like a headache. With the right team, it can be a positive experience from start to finish and leave you with something you love to look at and use.
We are pretty straightforward about what matters:
We like building projects that are thought through, built well, and worth being proud of when they are done.
If you want experienced people in your corner and a process that feels clear from start to finish, we’d love to hear about your project.
High Ridge is led by builders who have spent decades in the field, in planning, and in leadership across both residential and commercial construction. Between them, they bring hands-on experience, timber knowledge, project management discipline, and a straightforward approach to getting things built the right way. That matters because good projects do not happen by accident. They come from people who know what they are doing, communicate clearly, and care about the finished product as much as the client does.
Scott Alger brings more than 25 years of experience in the building industry, with hands-on involvement across the full construction process. His background includes early field labor, raw material procurement, and design work with timber and structural systems. Over the years, he has played an integral role in many of the most distinctive and well-crafted timber projects in Utah, across both residential and commercial work.
Scott is especially good at understanding what a client wants to build and helping turn that vision into something real, practical, and well executed. For him, quality is always the mission. He also believes strong relationships with clients and project owners are a big part of what makes a project successful, from the first planning conversation to the final walkthrough.
With 34 years of hands-on construction experience, David Layne brings a rare mix of field knowledge and executive-level leadership. He started in the trades, learning framing and finish carpentry, then went on to own and operate his own commercial general contracting business. Over the years, David has led complex, high-profile projects across multiple sectors. He served as Director of Construction for The VOID VR, overseeing immersive entertainment buildouts, and later held Director of Construction roles for Costa Vida and Fat Cats Entertainment, managing multi-
location commercial developments with tight schedules and demanding brand standards.
David is comfortable both on the jobsite and at the leadership level. He is known for practical problem-solving, strong construction knowledge, and the ability to lead teams from concept through completion. His background as a self-employed commercial GC also gives him a sharp understanding of budgets, schedules, and constructability, which helps High Ridge deliver quality work without losing control of the details.
Brian Voeller has been hands-on in the construction industry since 1990 and brings more than three decades of experience across both residential and commercial work. His background spans virtually every stage of the building process, from planning and groundwork to finishing and final delivery, giving him a practical, big-picture understanding of how quality construction comes together.
Brian takes pride in doing solid work, staying reliable, and seeing projects through the right way. He has grown alongside an evolving construction market and brings the same commitment to craftsmanship, follow-through, and results to every project High Ridge takes on.
